French-Flag-small Créée en 2010 par Barthélémy Étiévant, The Wild Room est une association d’aide à la création cinématographique qui intervient là où les jeunes cinéastes ont besoin d’elle : de l’écriture du scénario à la distribution, en passant par l’aide à la production, le tournage et la postproduction.

The Wild Room, c’est aujourd’hui un réseau de 200 membres actifs, tous professionnels du cinéma, une cinquantaine de projets soutenus dont une vingtaine en production (courts-métrages, documentaires notamment).
Grâce à son travail en production et distribution et à ses liens pérennes avec de nombreuses sociétés de production et des prestataires audiovisuels, TWR a obtenu au printemps 2014 le statut d’intérêt général du Trésor public. Un statut qui lui permet de défiscaliser les dons issus du mécénat.

 

United-Kingdom-Flag-small Created in 2010 by Barthélémy Étiévant, The Wild Room is an association that assists cinematographic creation by intervening in the areas and aspects where young filmmakers need it: from the writing of screenplays to distribution, passing through an aid in production, filming and post production.

Today, The Wild Room is a network of 200 active members, all professionals in the field of cinema, and it has supported fifty projects, twenty of them in their production (short films, especially documentaries).

Thanks to its work in production and distribution, and its perennial relations with numerous production associations and audiovisual service providers, TWR earned, in the spring of 2014, the status of public-interest organization, which allows tax reductions on donations made by sponsors and patrons.

SYNOPSIS

A rashly accepted job at a construction site in a coastal resort becomes a pain in the neck of a backhoe loader operator from the hinterland who, in order to retain paternal authority and get the legal, but dirty demolition work done, needs to remove an unwanted witness.

Miroslav Sikavica was born in 1975 in Zagreb, Croatia. After studying Comparative Literature and Croatian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, he studied Film and Television Directing at Zagreb’s Academy of Dramatic Art. The Beast is his second short fiction film.

La Quinzaine des réalisateurs, appelée communément la « Quinzaine », est une sélection parallèle du festival de Cannescréée après les évènements de mai 68 et organisée par la Société des réalisateurs de films (SRF)[1].

Ce festival est totalement indépendant du festival de Cannes, créé à l’origine pour le concurrencer et montrer aux spectateurs des films de tout horizon, réalisés par des cinéastes inconnus. Il permet de découvrir de nouveaux talents et a notamment révélé George Lucas, Ken Loach, les Frères Dardenne, Michael Haneke ou encore Spike Lee[2].

Historique

Le festival de Cannes s’ouvrit normalement le 10 mai 1968[3] malgré la révolte étudiante touchant Paris. Les évènements ne l’atteignirent pas dès le début en raison de la distance conséquente de Paris et d’une proximité très relative d’une seule université : celle de Nice[4]. Cependant, le faste des cérémonies choque face à la violence extérieure : des cinéastes n’hésitent plus à crier au scandale. Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Miloš Forman ou Claude Lelouch envahissent ainsi lePalais des festivals et de vives altercations éclatent entre les réalisateurs et les invités[5]. Certains s’accrochent aux rideaux rouges pour empêcher la projection du film Peppermint frappé. Après d’âpres négociations, le délégué général Robert Favre Le Bret ainsi que le conseil d’administration annulent l’édition et le Festival est clos.

La SRF est alors créée par les contestataires cannois – surnommés « les 180 » – ce pour faire face aux évènements et à lacensure cinématographique opérant depuis les débuts du Festival. Ces contestataires sont essentiellement issus de laNouvelle Vague et émettent plusieurs revendications, notamment la suppression de la tenue de soirée et un palmarès établi par le public, deux volontés étant très représentatives d’un désir d’autonomie et d’opposition au sérieux de la grand-messe du cinéma[6]. Celles-ci sont refusées par le Comité mais d’autres sont acceptées. Les cinéastes n’obtenant pas satisfaction totale, ils décident de créer l’année suivante la Quinzaine.

Une grande partie des 180 souhaitaient acquérir leur propre festival et disposer ainsi d’une réelle liberté. Les organisateurs du Festival leur laissent donc carte blanche après de nouvelles négociations, acceptant cette idée afin de montrer une nouvelle image, plus moderne et ouverte sur le monde. Les fervents défenseurs de la Quinzaine sont Jean-Gabriel Albicocco, Pierre Kast, Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, Michel Mitrani, Louis Malle, Jacques Deray et Costa-Gavras. Gérée par des membres de la SRF de façon indépendante, choisissant eux-mêmes les films faisant partie de la sélection, elle est qualifiée de « contre-festival »[7].

La première édition s’ouvrit donc en montrant une réelle liberté de choix, « sans contraintes idéologiques ni techniques et représentative des cinémas du monde »[8].

RULES : 70% of the film must be shot with a mobile device, (e.g. iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Nokia, HTC, GoPro, etc.) to be eligible to win.
There is no time requirements on cinematography, comedy, documentary, or commercials.
No excessive nudity or excessive profanity will be allowed. Nudity of upper body can not exceed 4 seconds and no more than 4 profane words in a film
You cannot use copy written material unless you have a written permission to do so.
You can use multiple mobile devices for your film.
You can use any software to edit video and audio.
You can use any software for color correction or special effects.
